The Adolescent Brain.
Neuroscience, the scientific study of the biology of the brain, has made great strides over the past decade in revealing that remarkable changes occur in the brain during the teenage years.
Contrary to long-held ideas that the brain was mostly grown-up by the end of childhood, it is now clear that adolescence is a time of profound brain growth and change. In fact, the brain of an early adolescent in comparison to that of a late adolescent differs measurably in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology.
It is therefore essential for parents, teachers and teenagers themselves to understand as much as possible about the function of the brain and how it can be developed positively during adolescents.
If someone gave you a simple tool that would help your teenager to understand their brain better and learn how to use it more effectively to get along better with friends, family and other important people in their life, would you want to use it?
PRISM YP is a new tool developed with the Society of Neuroscience to help young people understand their brain and learn how to develop it in a positive way.
PRISM YP is not a test, there are no right or wrong answers so they can’t pass or fail.
PRISM YP gives you and your teenager insights into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that they can use for a lifetime in how they form relationships with others and develop their career.
PRISM YP opens their eyes to ways in which people are different, and reasons why those differences are positive, exciting, and good for everyone – including them.
